In what could be dubbed the 'Great Ceiling Caper,' two murder suspects miraculously escaped from a Mississippi jail early Friday, leading to a manhunt and a public safety alert.

Tyrekennel Collins, 24, and Dezarrious Johnson, 18, managed to Houdini their way out of the Claiborne County Detention Center around 2:20 a.m., using bed sheets and a ceiling panel for their unconventional jailbreak. Despite Johnson nursing a noticeable limp from his less-than-graceful descent, authorities are urging residents to stay vigilant and report any sightings. Evidently, this isn't the first time detours to freedom have been discovered in the jail's ceiling, prompting more than just a raised eyebrow from the board of supervisors.

Collins was being held on murder charges originating from Copiah County, while Johnson was facing charges out of Jefferson County. Both inmates are now subjects of a considerable manhunt that has instilled a heightened sense of caution among local residents. It's the kind of situation where you definitely want to keep your doors locked and your 'dangerous inmate' detector on high alert.

The escape itself was somewhat cinematic. The two inmates reportedly finagled their way through a panel in the ceiling of a common area within the jail. They then MacGyvered their way to the ground using bed sheets, a makeshift solution more commonly seen in movies. However, reality struck Johnson in the form of a bad limp, a result of his unfortunate landing.

Residents in the vicinity have been advised to take all necessary precautions. Even though the inmates are not believed to be armed, they are still considered dangerous—so no point inviting them for tea! The Claiborne County Sheriff's Office has emphasized that the safety of the public remains the highest priority.

Anyone who crosses paths with a limping fugitive or his ceiling-hopping counterpart should immediately contact 911 or the Claiborne County Sheriff's Office. Tips regarding their whereabouts can also be relayed to ensure swift capture. And while you're at it, maybe suggest they take up a safer hobby.

Interestingly, inmates escaping via the ceiling is not a first for Claiborne County Detention Center. The jailbreak hole in the ceiling appears to be as inveterate as it is vexing, with previous escapes occurring through the same method. The 'fix-it-later' approach once again rears its inconvenient head, much to the chagrin of the board of supervisors, who are now being reminded of the issue in the most glaring way possible.

U.S. Marshals have been involved in the pursuit, liaising closely with the families of the escaped inmates. Their message to the public is clear: anyone found aiding or abetting these fugitives will be enjoying an all-expenses-paid stay at a detention center themselves.

Both Collins and Johnson face additional charges upon their recapture, a reality that adds a bit more weight to the bed sheets, so to speak. As repairs continue at the Claiborne County Detention Center, one has to wonder if the next great escape will involve hot air balloons or perhaps a catapult. For now, residents are left to ponder the peculiar logistics of ceiling panels and make-do bed sheet escapes, all while keeping a vigilant eye out for a pair of dangerous, albeit resourceful, fugitives.
