Israeli strikes in Gaza have killed 18 people, including four sheltering in a tent camp at a hospital, as tensions continue to rise after nearly 10 months of war and recent attacks in Lebanon and Iran.

The latest escalation in the Gaza conflict resulted in devastating casualties and marked an intensification of a protracted war that has already displaced millions and killed tens of thousands. The strikes follow a series of deadly incidents, including a fatal stabbing by a Palestinian militant in Tel Aviv and targeted assassinations of senior militants in Lebanon and Iran. Amid the ongoing violence, Israel remains on high alert for further retaliation.

The incidents in Gaza on Sunday were particularly deadly. An Israeli airstrike hit a tent camp housing displaced Palestinians in the courtyard of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, killing four people, including one woman, and injuring several others. Men in the area rushed to assist the wounded, retrieve bodies, and attempt to extinguish the resulting fire.

In another airstrike, an entire family and their home in northern Gaza were obliterated. Eight people were killed in the attack, including three children, their parents, and their grandmother. The intensity of the bombardments left community members and rescue workers scrambling to manage the chaos and the tragic loss of life.

Meanwhile, Gaza's Health Ministry reported that another strike targeted a vehicle in Gaza City, resulting in three more deaths. These incidents add to the already staggering toll of the conflict, with heavy airstrikes and ground operations causing widespread destruction and displacing many of Gaza's 2.3 million residents.

On Saturday, an Israeli airstrike hit a school-turned-shelter in Gaza City, killing at least 16 people and injuring 21 others. The Gaza Health Ministry confirmed these figures on Sunday. Israel's military stated it was targeting a Hamas command center, although the Ministry's tallies do not distinguish between militants and civilians.

The Israeli military claims it tries to avoid civilian casualties, yet individual strikes that claim the lives of women and children are rarely commented upon in detail. The sheer scale of the destruction has led to a humanitarian crisis in Gaza, with vast numbers of people uprooted multiple times from their homes.

Adding to the volatile situation was a stabbing attack in a Tel Aviv suburb carried out by a Palestinian militant, which resulted in the deaths of two elderly people—a woman in her 70s and an 80-year-old man. Two other men were wounded in the attack. Israeli police reported that the assailant was 'neutralized.'

Tensions have been particularly high after Israeli strikes last week killed a senior Hezbollah commander in Lebanon and a Hamas political leader in Iran. Fears of retaliatory attacks from groups like Hezbollah have increased. Israel has been on high alert, bracing for possible strikes in response.

Since the beginning of the conflict nearly 10 months ago, the war has taken a heavy toll on both sides. Gaza Health Ministry data shows that the Israeli offensive has killed at least 39,550 Palestinians, a figure that includes both militants and civilians. Hezbollah, operating from Lebanon, has frequently exchanged fire with Israeli forces along the border, intensifying the overall conflict.

In the occupied West Bank, over 590 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire since the war in Gaza began. The Palestinian Health Ministry states many of these deaths occurred during Israeli raids and violent protests. The historical complexities underlying these dynamics date back to Israel's capture of the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem in 1967, territories that Palestinians envision as part of their future state.

The humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate amid the ongoing conflict. With Israel targeting various militant facilities and infrastructure, the civilian toll and displacement rates have escalated. The international community remains concerned about the increasing violence and its implications for regional stability.
