Patricia Portella-Wright, 48, was initially reported missing on August 9 after she failed to show up for work. Her last known sighting was on August 4. This led to an extensive search operation in Washoe County, Nevada, which culminated in the recovery of a body believed to be Portella-Wright's on Thursday. The discovery was made possible through the use of drone technology off the Mount Rose Highway.
Following the discovery of the body, authorities moved quickly to take Brent Clifford into custody. He was arrested on August 14 in Portola, California. The Placer County Sheriff's Office confirmed that there was apparent foul play involved in Portella-Wright's death. Brent Clifford’s legal troubles do not end with the accusations surrounding Portella-Wright. He is also a person of interest in a separate homicide case in Reno, Nevada. This case involves the death of William Andrews, who was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head. Further compounding the case against Clifford, Andrews' red 2003 Chevrolet Blazer is believed to have been stolen by him.
Brent Clifford is now being held without bail in Placer County Jail, where he faces homicide charges. The investigation into both Portella-Wright's and Andrews' deaths is ongoing, as law enforcement officials work to piece together the events leading up to these tragic incidents. The full implications of Clifford’s potential involvement in both cases are still under review by multiple jurisdictions.
